There is one relationship in life which effortlessly scores above all other known relationships. Don't scratch your head too much as that extraordinary relationship is none other than that of the mother — which is truly priceless in terms of her countless love, dedication, and devotion towards her family. To acknowledge the presence of all mothers around the globe, Mother's Day is celebrated across more than 46 countries of the world. This month, we shed some light on the occasion with information about the origin of Mother’s Day and some other facts you may not have known.
The present-day celebration of Mother's Day began in the year 1908 when Anna Jarvis organized a memorial for her mother, Ann Jarvis, a peace activist who used to care the wounded soldiers of the American Civil War. The event was held at the St Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia, which currently holds the International Mother's Day Shrine. Anna Jarvis began the task of getting support for the celebration of Mother's Day in the United States in 1905 after her mother died the same year. She wanted to honor all the mothers of the world who have done a lot for their family and society.
Due to her continuous efforts, most of the US states by 1911 started celebrating Mother's Day as a local holiday and West Virginia, the home state of Jarvis, became the first state to declare the holiday for the occasion in the year 1910. Finally, the second Sunday of May was officially designated as Mother's Day in the USA and was declared as a national holiday after Woodrow Wilson, the 28th President of United States of America signed the proclamation in the year 1914. In this way, the present Mother's Day came into existence in the USA and the same date is also selected by countries like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Italy, Singapore, Belgium, and a lot more other countries.
Mother's Day is an occasion which is celebrated in various parts of the world to express respect, honor, and love towards mothers. The day is an event to honor the contribution of mothers, acknowledge the efforts of maternal bonds and the role of mothers in our society. Although, different countries celebrate the occasion on different dates, the common months of the celebrations are March or May. Mother's Day is a similar effort like other celebrations like Father’s Day, Siblings Day, Grandparents Day and others.
It is a day which makes people remember the importance and significance of mothers in their life and is observed as a day to give special emphasis to the motherly figures around the world.
At the AutoNation Company Store, we celebrate all of the mothers that make our lives so special. Take the time to celebrate the mothers in your lives this May 10th and each and every day beyond.

]]>As a Drive Pink Insider’s Club Member, you will receive:
In 2020, there will be an estimated 1.8 million new cancer cases diagnosed in the US. While there have been significant advances in treatment, an actual cure remains elusive. Becoming a member of the Drive Pink Insider's Club is a rewarding reminder that each purchase you make benefits the Drive Pink Campaign where YOU direct your purchase donation to 1 of 6 charities. These organizations are working hard to perform medical research and patient care. To date, the campaign has raised over $20 million to fight cancer, a statistic we are quite proud of and we continue to be driven to find a cure.
At the AutoNation Company Store, we believe in this journey too. We understand that innovation helps us create stronger, healthier communities everywhere we do business. Our values unite us, informing and inspiring the way we interact with one another. Together, we are more impactful.
We believe that our efforts in creating new products should have a positive effect on the environment around us, no matter where we live. Which is why the month of April is so very important to us.
We are proud to introduce new products made with recycled plastic from landfills and oceans— each prepared with purpose. Made with comfortable, recycled polyester that is durable, soft and designed to last — these products are more than a fashion statement. They represent our footprint in reducing plastic waste and our commitment to encourage others in the industry to make collective progress towards recycling.
These new sustainable products are made in the United States with sustainable fabrics and eco-friendly production. What does that mean? Less plastics going to landfills or ending up in our oceans. Less energy is needed in production. Less time is required in the production process.
Why is this important to us? Because the apparel industry is currently the second most polluting industry worldwide, second only to oil. Clothing production depletes the Earth’s resources and generates an alarming amount of pollution annually, consuming massive amounts of fresh water and requiring substantial fossil fuel use for transportation.
We are proud to share that these products require less resources to make the fabrics, which is similar to virgin polyester in terms of quality. The production requires 59% less energy than that of new polyester as the manufacturing process doesn't include the extraction of crude oil and natural gas from our planet.
Our "Polo with a Purpose" is made with comfortable, recycled polyester, each Planet Polo keeps 10 plastic bottles from landfills and oceans. 45% recycled polyester, 45% polyester, 10% elastane. 4-3/4 OZ, heather jersey, moisture wicking, self-goods collar with collar band.
The engineered fabrics used in our custom neckties and scarves mimic a high quality silk, but milled from recycled water bottles and printed with our design. The result is an incredible soft feeling tie with superior durability. We hope you enjoy looking at our new products and wearing them with great pride.
Together, we can change the world. And we hope you join us on this journey as we continue to lessen the burden on Planet Earth while reaching for the stars.
